About the stone: Opal is soft and contains water, which makes it more fragile than most gemstones. It can crack if knocked or exposed to sudden temperature change. Never use an ultrasonic cleaner, steam or any chemical on it — wipe gently with a soft damp cloth and let it dry fully. Take these off before sleeping, exercising and swimming.

About the plating: This is gold-plated sterling silver, not solid gold. Earrings wear more slowly than rings, since they sit against skin rather than surfaces.
