The centre stone is held in a multi-claw setting that lifts it clear of the bypass band — a modern take on the classic solitaire.

About the plating: this is platinum-plated sterling silver, not solid platinum. Plating wears with daily contact, most noticeably on the underside of the band. Removing the ring for washing up, exercise and manual work will extend it considerably. The ring can be re-plated by a jeweller.
